Acchord is on hiatus due to the ongoing COVID pandemic, and are working to restart limited rehearsals for our members and run auditions for new members.
We intend to try to return to performing in Spring of 2023 – if you are requesting a booking in the new year, please feel free to contact us via this form, and one of our members will respond within 1 to 2 weeks.
Acchord is only available to perform at functions that align with our mission, vision, and values.

FAQ
What types of events will Acchord do?
- Community events centered on uplifting oppressed people.
- LGBTQ2SIA celebrations, i.e. weddings, birthdays, other parties.
- Fundraisers for social justice or other causes.
What types of events will you NOT do?
We consider requests individually. For our safety, we might decline religious services, events in which alcohol/drugs are a focus, and other events or spaces which are potentially triggering or otherwise unsafe.
Acchord will not perform for an event tied to Trans Day of Resilience / Remembrance for any group that is not run by trans people.
I’m still not clear whether my event is something Acchord would go for.
It might be helpful to ask yourself whether non-binary or transgender people’s voices were involved in planning the event, or whether your group has self-educated on gender identity and social justice issues. If you are still unsure whether your event is a good fit for Acchord, you are welcome to reach out to us — we will let you know if we’re interested in performing.
How much notice do you need?
As much advance notice as possible, but a good general guideline is at least 6 weeks. If your event is this month, we are unlikely to have 10-14 singers available. But if it is more than a month away, the odds are better. Acchord discusses each potential gig as a group to determine how well it fits with our purpose – and part of a delay in a response is so that we can have space to have these conversations in person.
What do you charge?
Performance fee depends on the location, timing, length of set, and type of event. A typical fee might be between $200 and $400. If that sounds like a barrier, just get in touch, and we will consider the details of your event.
Where does the money go?
- To support Transpose PDX! Read about our mission here.
- Sometimes to reimburse Acchord singers for their transportation costs to the event.
What are Acchord’s requirements for the event space?
In COVID, we are preferring outdoor venues for our safety. Other events will be considered depending on the details and the current infection rates.
A safe space for our community:
- Is fully ADA accessible,
- Has gender neutral restrooms, and
- Has a space to use as a green room (where we can gather, prepare, and safely store our personal items) as needed. The green room should be a substance-free space.
We should not be misgendered by persons affiliated with the event.
What kind of music will Acchord perform?
Our repertoire is heavy on pop and includes other musical styles adapted for a cappella. We custom arrange all our music to fit our own group’s voices. We strive to uplift compositions from artists of color and from the gender expansive community.
Song lyrics might occasionally include profanity or a brief reference to a potential trigger. Just let us know if your event has needs around these topics.
